Lady Gaga was attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and performing on New York’s Lower East Side when she was signed to Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope Records. They saw her talent and wanted to make sure they were in on the ground floor of this emerging artist. She wrote for other artists at the company and Akon was particularly taken with her. He signed her to his own label at the company and her career began its ascent. He debut album was released in 2008.
